Surnager is a site-specific installation created during my residency at Denniston Hill in July 2010. During this residency I created sculptural responses to and within two locations on site. These responses reverberate the locations rather than add to them working, hence, from visual impulses found on site and triggering a ‘conversational’ momentum between these impulses and the sculptural works. The installation, 'surnager'  floated on the lake on the grounds of Denniston Hill and resonated with organic forms that are found in and around the lake: leaves, the rocks in the lake, and the shape of the lake itself. The installation created multiple echoes with the surrounding similar to the ways in which water reflects its surrounding.
