The performance ‘flowers played on a cello’ was created for the ‘true stories untold’ event in May 2010. Challenging the notion of art and the artist as being separate entities within the processes of art production, in ‘flowers played on a cello’ Aimée’s hair became the materiality out of which the art piece was made. Hence, once Aimée left the performative space the art piece vanished as well; the art piece was of no substance without the presence of the artist. Once the flower image created with her hair was complete, a cello player ‘translated’ the image into sound, pushing it into yet another realm of existence and also expanding the notion of authorship.
